Background

About Darren Varga

I began working in stamping and automotive at the age of 15. I gained practical knowledge of tier 1 to tier 3 suppliers. I did everything from machine setup, quality control, ergonomics and job station redesign. After my degree I began working as an Ergonomist at Chrysler Canada. I also did production supervision, safety engineering and environmental services for the paint shop at the Windsor Assembly Plant. I moved on and worked for a large group of companies that covered everything from automotive to horse racing and almost everything in between. I was the corporate safety manager for all companies across North America (all 3 countries). From there I joined the Ministry of Labour as an Industrial Safety Inspector. I have investigated many fatalities, amputations, work refusals and complaints. I have been involved with many successful prosecutions. I am trained in both Industrial and Construction Industries. I am equally comfortable in a boardroom as I am in a site trailer. I have developed and implemented Ergonomic Risk Assessment programs around the world. I have successfully defended employers charged by the Ministry of Labour and have assisted companies to mitigate charges that would have otherwise been laid.
