About Darrien Trias

My first love was teaching, and my career has been focused on learning, especially in higher education. While there was a lot of change, I believe that this transition came with time and effort. After graduating from Eide Bailly LLP I moved to Austin to begin my career as an accountant. In this position I have learned the fundamentals of general accounting, but more specifically taxation for colleges and universities as well as individual and corporate income tax returns and reporting, which will be essential for me to become a well-rounded accountant. I love this LinkedIn generated summary because absolutely none of it is true. My real summary: I didn't go to college after graduating high school because I couldn't afford it and every parental figure in my life said I didn't need to in order to make a living and could get by working any full time job. Sure. I ended up going to college for music education to make that living I heard all about. Half way through I switched to Accounting on a whim and felt I was pretty good at it. I graduated Cum Laude into an entry level audit position with Eide Bailly LLP. I even moved from California to North Dakota just to start working, to pay off my student loans. This position didn't work out as we didn't agree on the amount of hours I was hired to work. After 9 months at the old position, I applied to the Washington State Auditor's Office on another whim and ended up getting the position. I've been there for almost two years working mainly on Single Audit Compliance for large state agencies and I've really enjoyed my time so far.
