About Darryl Button

Business History: Mr. Button is president and chief executive officer of Pacific Life Insurance Company. He is the 15th chief executive officer in the company’s more than 150-year history. Mr. Button joined Pacific Life in 2017 as executive vice president and chief financial officer (CFO) where he was responsible for the development and implementation of the company’s corporate and financial strategies, as well as the corporate finance, internal audit, enterprise risk management, and corporate development functions. Additionally, Mr. Button oversaw Pacific Life’s investment organization, which manages the general account assets and is responsible for Pacific Life’s institutional business. On April 1, 2022, Mr. Button became Pacific Life’s president and chief executive officer. Prior to joining Pacific Life, Mr. Button was with Aegon for 17 years where he most recently served as CFO and member of the Executive Board of Aegon N.V. He also previously served as head of Aegon N.V.’s corporate financial center, CFO of Aegon’s U.S. subsidiary Transamerica, and as chairman for the company’s Canadian operations. Mr. Button began his career at Mutual Life Insurance Co. of Canada and is a fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA), a fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA), a member of the American Academy of Actuaries and a former member of the Board of Directors of the American Chamber of Commerce in the Netherlands. Industry Involvement: Mr. Button represents Pacific Life at the American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI), the primary trade association for the life insurance and retirement security industry, which liaises with members of Congress, the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, and other key policymakers and influencers on matters of importance to our industry. At the ACLI, Mr. Button serves on the CEO Steering Committee on Consumer Issues, the CEO Steering Committee on Prudential Issues, and the CEO Steering Committee on Taxation. Civic/Community: Mr. Button is the chairman of the Pacific Life Foundation.
