I have an unwavering commitment to academia, societal change, innovation, and personal growth. Presently, as a PhD Candidate and Learning Scientist at the University of California, Berkeley, I delve deep into research aimed at supporting underrepresented students in STEM disciplines. It's crucial for me to understand and devise strategies to help these students navigate and triumph over oppressive social systems they might encounter. I bring to the table a solid foundation with a BS in Computer Science, a MS in Aeronautical Science, and an MA in Education. I have over two decades of honorable service in the Navy, where I gained extensive knowledge and experience in logistics and cybersecurity. This unique vantage point allowed me to delve deep into the challenges that service members face, especially in the rapidly evolving world of technology and security. I've donned multiple hats over the years, and the journey has been both exhilarating and challenging. Life's diverse roles - from deep thinker to an old sailor, a writer to a community helper - each of these experiences has enriched me, giving me perspectives that I value immensely. On a personal front, I proudly identify as a husband and father. I've always strived to make a meaningful difference, to learn, and to grow, whether it's in academia, the naval service, or as a fellow human.
