With over 25 years of experience spanning aviation, business ownership, and advisory roles, Darryl Tonks has built a career on resilience, adaptability, and delivering results. At the age of three, he survived a serious car accident that left him in a coma with severe brain damage and paralysis on his right side. Defying expectations, he recovered to become a shift manager at KFC and earned his pilot’s license at 17. He has since transitioned from aviation to business, building a successful and diverse career. In aviation, Darryl held positions as an airline captain, trainer, flight examiner, and multiple management roles. These experiences sharpened his leadership and problem-solving skills under high-pressure conditions. Today, he applies those same skills to help businesses achieve profitability, growth, and operational excellence. In 2019, he purchased a struggling laundry business that was losing money. By identifying and filling a gap in the market, pivoting services, improving financial management, introducing systems, and refocusing on customer service, he successfully increased profit margins by 36%. This experience strengthened his ability to develop customer-focused strategies, streamline operations, and achieve measurable financial results. As a NSW government-accredited business advisor, Darryl became a trusted expert for NDIS businesses, guiding them on compliance, process optimization, and service delivery. Beyond business, he has obtained motorbike and truck licenses and spent several years volunteering with the NSW Rural Fire Service. He has also explored sustainable farming, including alpaca breeding and raising miniature cattle, as well as permaculture, website design, digital marketing, real estate, bookkeeping, NLP, and marketing psychology.
