August, – Present: Senior Scientist, Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB). 1995 - 1997: Managed the daily operation of the Chemistry Laboratory at S.R. Hansen & Associates and worked on the U.S. EPA Superfund Project; trained and supervised one Ph.D, two M.S, three B.S. degree analysts and four technicians in method development, problem solving and troubleshooting GFAA, FAA, Polarography, UV/Vis, HPLC, TOC and ISE (free-metals/ions analysis) instrument; monitored the performance and productivity of chemists and technicians in the laboratory; scheduled workload and supervised personnel to ensure timely delivery of reports; identified both technical and personnel problems and initiated corrective actions. Experienced in research and method development, operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography (UPLC) with various detectors, including Mass Spectroscopy (MS), Magic-Angle-Spinning Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (MAS NMR), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Graphite and Flame Atomic Absorption (GFAA & FAA), Inductively-Coupled Plasma (ICP), Gas Chromatography (GC) with various detectors, Ion Chromatography (IC), Ultra-Violet/Visible (UV/Vis) Spectroscopy, Flame Photometry, Colorimetry, Fluorometry, Polarography, Total Organic Carbon (TOC), Anton Paar Densitometer and Alcolyzer, Alliance InfraScan, Ion-Selective Electrode (ISE) measurements, Instron (tensile strength) measurements, distillation processes, sorption, surface area, chemical and thermal analysis. Working knowledge of various CFR, EPA procedures, ISO, A2LA, ELAP protocols, ASTM, US Pharmacopoeia, ASBC and AOAC standard methods for analyzing inorganic and organic compounds; working knowledge of Agilent ChemStation and Waters Millennium32 chromatography software operations; familiar with chemical speciation and solute transport computer modeling, such as HYDRAQL and MINEQL.
