About Darya Gilbert

I grew up in Belarus, obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality and Events Management in Switzerland, lived and worked in Hong Kong and Switzerland, and built a successful career in restaurant management in Vancouver, BC over 6 years. I graduated from Yorkville University with a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology with Honours and hold an RCC designation (Registered Clinical Counsellor) with BCACC as well as a Life Coaching Certificate. My experience in the hospitality industry has given me many interpersonal and organizational skills, such as mediating conflict, reading people, anticipating their needs, and supporting and uplifting team members. My international experience and exposure to different cultures give me cultural sensitivity and humility when working with clients of various backgrounds. The topics of social justice, LGBTQIA2S+ rights, feminism, inclusion, and equality are important to me, and I aspire to be an advocate for people in need. My personal journey in therapy inspired me to be a counsellor myself and help others reach their full potential. Building a meaningful relationship with clients is most important to me. I value every client’s right to determine what their journey is and believe that everyone has what it takes to be the best version of themselves inside them already. I offer online and in-person talk therapy sessions tailored to each client's or couple's needs. You can count on being met with empathy and validation in a confidential, judgment-free, and trauma-informed environment. I offer psychoeducation, suggest practical tools, and provide intensive therapy using therapeutic approaches rooted in humanistic theory. I work with clients with such challenges as sexual and relational trauma, grief, intimacy and relationship challenges, life transitions, and other concerns.
