Background

About Darya Zanjanpour

Darya Zanjanpour is a researcher working at the intersection of aerospace engineering, psychology, robotics, and neuroscience, developing effective solutions for the safe and adaptive integration of humans with autonomous systems. She is currently pursuing her PhD at the University of Toronto Institute for Aerospace Studies. Her research focuses on understanding trust and stress responses in human-robot interaction, particularly in complex multi-agent environments that challenge decision-making and cognitive load. She also integrates electroencephalography (EEG) to gain real-time insights into psychological states, paving the way for adaptive, trust-aware system design. Beyond her academic work, Darya is a commercial pilot (M-IFR) and a certified flight instructor for both in-air and ground training at Island Air Flight School, based at Billy Bishop Airport. She also contributes to educational programs across Canada, sharing her passion for aerospace with students from Ottawa to Vancouver. In addition, Darya collaborates with CertificationCenterCanada on various projects related to aircraft certification processes. Her work spans tasks from data analysis and risk assessment to developing streamlined processes that meet regulatory standards, supporting the advancement of safe and reliable aviation systems.
