About Daryl Blanks

Global generative geoscientist for BHP Exploration. Specialism in mineral system applications to sedimentary copper and magmatic Ni-Cu-PGE systems with global exploration experience and prospectivity assessments in a range of base and precious metals including epithermal Au-Ag, sedimentary Cu-Co-Ni, iron-oxide-copper-gold (IOCG), Ni-Cu-PGE and porphyry Cu deposits with fieldwork undertaken in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia, Italy, Turkey and Australia.I have a strong technical and research background supporting industry, completing a PhD in 2021 working on the Munali Nickel Deposit in Zambia with Consolidated Nickel Mines. Additionally I took on the role of BHP Research Fellow re-examining the key controls in the Mineral System Framework for Ni-Cu-PGE deposits. I have also worked on post-doc projects researching magmatic-hydrothermal systems with focus on battery metals, working on projects in the Central African Copperbelt with First Quantum Minerals as part of the CuBES project; and in the Curaca Valley, Brazil with Ero Copper.
