I am a communications professional with 29 years of experience in science research communications and publishing. For the last 25 years, I have been an integral member of the communications office of the US National Cancer Institute, where I have contributed my expertise in writing, editing, content strategy and management, web analytics, and clearance. Since 2007, I have worked remotely from Lafayette, Louisiana. I have adapted seamlessly to new systems, technologies, and workflows. My ability to stay proactive, communicative, and effective from a remote environment is a strength I’ve cultivated over nearly two decades. Current duties include: Writing accurate plain language scientific and biomedical content; Editing scientific content for blogs, newsletters, and websites; Copyediting and proofreading of content produced by colleagues; Assessing newly published cancer research journal articles for content development; Maintaining and managing legacy web content; Advising on social media strategy and content; Analyzing website usage (web metrics and analytics); Creating and editing cancer-related and other content and advising agency staff on contributing to Wikipedia; Assessing media, commentary, and scientific products for agency and department clearance requirements.
