About Dave Dewey

As a child, I wanted to be a Police Officer, Firefighter, and EMT. I've done all three, but my career choice is Police Officer. As such, I have the opportunity to respond to everything. I enjoy networking with the various agencies in town, and take pride in my abilities to get the job done. The most enjoyable part of my job is working a Police dog. My first dog, K9 Kilo, trained in drugs and patrol, taught me how to be a handler. Kilo and I were inducted into the Vermont Police Canine Association Hall of Fame in 2008. My second dog, K9 Tazor, a Belgian Malinois from Ohio, helped us earn many awards including tracking team of the year and a couple of Lifesaving Awards. I’ve worked most of my career on the midnight shift as that is where the work we enjoy is. K9 Ozzy, also a Malinois, and I just finished our basic training and are certified in Patrol and Drug Detection. Each fall I work with a great team of handlers in the area to put on the Green Mountain Iron Dog. 2019 was our 20th, and we ran 220 teams through the 2 mile course of obstacles and challenges. Go to for details. Fall of 2019 gave me the opportunity to be the Co-Director of the first Canine Spartan Race outside Dallas Texas. Sponsored by Nulo, we had almost 100 teams run through our own 1.3 mile course. Hopefully more to come on that in the future. Spring 2024 promoted to Patrol Sergeant. On the personal side, I live in 100 year old barn in a small town with my beautiful and supportive wife Christine and my two amazing kids.
