Fatigue Risk Management Systems Air Line Pilots Association working group lead. Our group develops fatigue mitigation strategies for Long Haul and Ultra Long Haul routes proposed by United Airlines. These routes typically exceed the FAA FAR 117 limits, and certificate holders must seek exemptions under the FAA Advisory Circular 120-103A. Additionally, we coordinate with Washington State Universities Sleep and Performance Research Center to collect and analyze pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight performance and sleep data to formulate appropriate guidance to provide to United Airlines flight crews. Currently, our ALPA group has created 10 FAA FRMS exemptions in use by United Airlines the most of any major US airline.
