About Dave Leavitt

As a Principal and a Teacher-Librarian at the Toronto District School Board, I have over 17 years of experience in education, leadership, and innovation. I am passionate about fostering literacy and digital skills among students and staff, and creating inclusive and engaging learning environments. My leadership in Math education has been cited by the Minister of Education for Ontario and I continue to push for new and effective ways to increase capacity amongst my staff in this area. I am committed to enhancing equitable and inclusive practices and have been a leader with regards to unpacking and implementing aspects of the Truth and Reconciliation Commissions calls to action as they relate to education. In my career, I have also contributed to the development and implementation of various curriculum and professional development initiatives, such as the Biodiversity Gallery at the ROM, where I facilitated interactive exhibits and workshops for diverse audiences. I bring a wealth of knowledge and experience in the field of biodiversity, as well as a commitment to collaboration, excellence, and equity. I am looking for an opportunity to leverage my skills and expertise in a dynamic and progressive organization that values education, innovation, and diversity.
