About Dave Linehan

As Head of Policy & Research at Wind Energy Ireland, I lead a talented team shaping the future of Ireland’s renewable energy landscape. With responsibility for policy development and advocacy, stakeholder engagement, and strategic research programmes, I work across both the onshore and offshore wind sectors to help accelerate Ireland's transition to a zero-carbon energy system. I’m proud to sit on the volunteer board of Energy Cloud — where we explore innovative energy-sharing solutions for people in energy poverty. I also Chair the Energy, Environment, and Climate Action division at Engineers Ireland, helping to drive thought leadership and collaboration across the industry. Prior to Wind Energy Ireland, I spent eight years at EirGrid, Ireland’s transmission system operator, where I gained comprehensive expertise in grid delivery, network planning, power system operations, and energy markets. I hold a first-class honours degree in Energy Engineering from University College Cork, complemented by postgraduate qualifications in professional engineering, project and programme management, leadership, and Six Sigma.
