About Dave Maurer

Dave Maurer is currently a Captain for United Airlines on their 320 fleet in Denver. He was previously on the 757/767 fleet based out of Los Angeles Int'l Airport. Dave recently retired from a long career with the Air Force as an Air Force Instructor/Evaluator Pilot and (most recently) as the Chief of Scheduling for the 94th Flying Training Squadron, United States Air Force Academy, Colorado. Previously he served as Chief of Standardization and Evaluations for the 6th Operations Group at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, overseeing KC-135 and Gulfstream IV standards for the base. As a KC-135R/T EP, he was responsible for ensuring our pilots could deliver global reach and security for the United States and its allies by delivering fuel via in-flight refueling to over 80 different coalition aircraft safely and in accordance with established operating procedures.Between eight deployments in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, New Dawn, Inherent Resolve, Freedom Sentinel and Resolute Support - where he flew over 190 combat sorties - Major Maurer served as the very first Executive Officer for the 64th Air Refueling Squadron, as the Standardization and Evaluations Liaison Officer for the 157th Operations Group at Pease ANGB, NH, as a Group Training Officer for the 92d Operations Support Squadron, as the Chief of Safety, Chief of Training, and the A-Flight Commander for the 92d Air Refueling Squadron at Fairchild AFB, WA and as the Chief of Standardization and Evaluations for the 91st Air Refueling Squadron at MacDill AFB, FL. He also served eight years as an enlisted aircraft mechanic on the C-5 Galaxy aircraft and was hand-picked for special duty as a flying crew chief, deploying over 600 days during a four-year period on short-notice temporary duty assignments worldwide.
