About Dave Pitcher

My primary background is in Casualty Claims, however I have training and experience in Risk Management and have been the Risk Manager for the Utah Transit Authority under the title of Claims and Insurance Manager. I manage all aspects of UTA's insurance portfolio - broker services, procurement of coverage, evaluation of insurance needs, management of self-insurance program and administration of our Owner Controled Insurance Program (OCIP) for our major construction projects. Claims made under our self-insurance program are handled in-house by a staff of claims adjusters. I manage the handling of all self-administered claims and oversee claims made with our insurance carriers. My goal is to make sure that UTA is in a position to promptly respond to losses with minimal or no effect on operations. On a personal note, I've coached or managed over 30 youth teams in most sports. Over the last 20 years I've been coaching ice hockey including 4 years as an Assistant Coach and another 4 years as Head Coach for an ACHA D2 Men's Hockey team at Brigham Young University. My goal has been to not only develop competitive hockey players, but to provide young men with the skills that will help them be good employees, citizens, husbands and fathers.
