About Dave Power

Dave Power has been the Head Chef at The Boxty House, one of Temple Bars most recognizable eating houses, since 2007. He first joined the restaurant as a Sous Chef in 2003 and was promoted to Head Chef in 2006 and then General Manager in 2015. He has recently become General Manager of the overall Boxty House company covering the restaurant business, the Jack Smyth Brewery and the Boxty House Production Facility. His skills involve Menu Planning & Costing, HR Management, Staff Recruitment & Training and has recently become heavily infolved in Overall Restaurant Budgeting & Accounting. A Chef for his entire career, Dave qualified from DIT Cathal Brugha Street in 1998 and spent his time learning his craft at a variety of Restaurants & Hotels in Dublin & Waterford. Dave's cooking style is generally rustic and heavily influenced by Irish Recipes and Produce, at the same time taking inspiration from Modern Culinary trends and fashions. Through the Boxty House, he has had the opportunity to cater several prestigious events including the Oxford Food Symposium in 2010 and the Childvision Burns Night Benefit Dinner at Dublin City Hall in 2014.
