About Dave Pratt

I’m an experienced senior fire service professional, with a long career as a specialist in the areas of fire safety and emergency management. I’ve been a Deputy Fire Chief, Fire Chief and Deputy Fire Marshal, managing, supervising and overseeing the daily operations of two composite municipal fire departments. I’ve honed my skills in academic environments – through intensive, ongoing training – and on the real, high-stakes proving ground: overseeing my teams’ fire suppression, special operations and incident management activities. As a natural problem-solver, my knack for spotting areas where I can improve things has enabled me to refine response models to be more efficient, while still maintaining the bottom line. This, coupled with strong knowledge of the principles, practices and requirements of the Fire Protection and Prevention Act and Occupational Health and Safety Act, and experience managing in a unionized environment, has prepared me well for any future opportunity. I’m passionate about the fire service, continuing to lead and mentor the next generation of staff, and service to my local community, through ongoing volunteer participation and involvement. Looking forward, I envision a future rich in both professional and personal growth, and welcome new challenges, connections and opportunities to continue demonstrating and enhancing my skills and expertise.
