About Dave Prince

My management background began as a Quality Supervisor at an ISO 9001 heat exchanger pressure vessel fabrication facility in the early 1990s. My responsibility included all quality related roles for maintaining the company's CSA and ASME certification. I regularly met with engineering, Authorized Inspectors, shop and shipping personnel to maintain total quality control of the entire process. All testing and quality activities were logged and filed including certification data and instrument calibration. Changes and improvements to the QMS were approved by management and published on an as needed basis. My responsibilities included preparing additional documentation for "U" stamped designated vessels and collecting supplier component documentation. The company also built some pump and piping packages that required UL, ULC and CSA designations. All testing data was traceable back to national standards. Customer mandated QMS requirements were reviewed with management and incorporated within our production system. Highlights of any required changes were expressed on the equipment traveler which followed the assembly throughout the shop. Quality assurance doesn't start and stop on the shop floor. Every aspect from design, engineering and sales must adhere to and exceed established and expected quality standards. These standards typically need to be measured and statistically compared to established benchmarks in order to provide for a consistent measure of performance.
