About Dave Robinson

Technical Director, Arboriculturist, Right Hand Man. As a former operations manager and director and now technical director for arboricultural contracting companies for over 20 years, I have been responsible for day to day operations as well as long term strategy, business development, health and safety, environment, and quality compliance. I currently work alongside the managing director, commercial director, and operations director managing three divisions of Thompsons Group, supplying professional, high quality tree care and vegetation management, tree and ecology consultancy, fencing and soft landscaping services across all industry sectors. I have 32 years of experience in both practical and managerial environments, coordinating the activities of commercial arboricultural businesses. I am experienced in building and handling key accounts and have a successful record of developing and improving systems and processes to improve safety, efficiency and profitability. Outside of my day to day role, I have worked on the team of Arboricultural Association Approved Contractor assessors and working alongside a close colleague, I have co-authored the technical guide on the use of cranes in arboriculture. I have also contributed to the Tree Work at Height ICOP and sat on the Trailblazer 3 subgroup guiding the production of the trailblazer arborist apprenticeship. I am passionate about raising standards of safety and professionalism in the industry and with a strong focus on process management, I really enjoy business development and improvement. When I’m not at work I enjoy time with my family, getting involved in my local community, walking, running, swimming, fungi, dragonflies, adventure and motorcycling and peace and quiet in the garden.
