Background

About Dave Swavely

I have been a professional writer for almost 30 years, both full and part time, with numerous published books, novels, and articles. I have been the primary editor on eight published non-fiction books, the co-author of three, and sole author of four more. I have worked as a journalist for World Magazine and as an editor at Cruciform Press, where I served as Acquisitions Editor for non-fiction and General Editor for a new line of fiction books. I have written three novels published by Macmillan (one with Tor/Forge), and another two with Cruciform, as well as being the primary editor on five novels by other authors. I have been a founding principal and teacher in two small K-12 schools, taught high school classes for four years at Delaware County Christian School near Philadelphia PA, and taught middle and high school classes for a combined ten years at Grace Academy of Napa CA and Generations Home Scholars in Chester Springs PA. I started two churches from scratch as a "church planting pastor," one in Sonoma CA and one in Malvern PA. I served and managed those entire organizations as their primary leader for a combined seventeen years, and did that for various departments of other churches for an additional seven years. I was a personal assistant to the world-renowned speaker and author Dr. John MacArthur for seven years. I have also failed repeatedly (and sometimes miserably) in all these endeavors, and have learned as much if not more from my failures as I have my successes.
