About Dave Thoman

Named Time Magazine's 2006 Person of the Year. Background: Graduated from Washburn University in 2008 with Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Minor in History Studies, and Certificate in Leadership Studies. Awarded the Clyde Hill Scholarship to serve the Kansas State Legislature for one term under Senate Ways and Means Chairman Dwayne Umbarger. Was also highly involved in the Leadership Institute, serving as the Director of the Rotary Youth Leadership Academy - a summer leadership camp for high school students. Subsequently enrolled at the University of Michigan Ford School of Public Policy. Graduated May of 2010 with an emphasis in energy and tax policy studies. Served as chair of the school's Environmental Policy Organization during this time; was a Research Associate for the Graham Institute where the University published my contributions to an analysis on making the school's energy consumption more sustainable. Departed Michigan to serve as the Biggane Fellow for the New York State Senate Finance Committee for 10 months, working with agricultural, environmental, energy, and housing policies. Following the fellowship's conclusion, was hired on full-time as a budget analyst in July 2011. Currently responsible for directing Senate positions on Agricultural, Education, and Environmental spending, and conduct modeling of school aid. Specialties: Conversant with OS X and Windows operating systems, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint Software; Trained in Stata, SPSS, GIS and Microsoft Access.
