About Dave Utter

Began my long journey when I relocated to Irvine CA from Elmira NY for an entry level tech position at laser medical device company. In my years there through my friendships and abilities I was able to rise to senior technician. As I later learned was commonplace, that company was sold to a larger company and relocated to the East Bay Area. After making the difficult decision to remain, I was able to land an Senior Engineering tech position in North San Diego county. After a few years there that company was also purchased by a larger company, and that company disbanded the engineering department. I decided to contact old friends from my first company that also remained and was brought on as a supervisor for a newly formed product line. Wouldn't you know it? That company also got swallowed up by a larger company and they cancelled the product. Not long after we were integrated into their Irvine Manufacturing facility. About a year in an opportunity arose to move over to the Repair Shop in a different part of town. In my time here I have taken the opportunity to be trained and certified on the repair of a couple different surgical laser systems and can now troubleshoot, repair and upgrade field returned systems that would otherwise be scrapped. I have made made invaluable friends over the years and joke when anyone leaves "Ill see you at the next place".
