Ecologist with expertise in marine and terrestrial mammal biology and ecology. Currently employed as Citizen Science Officer at the National Biodiversity Data Centre, Waterford. Experienced marine mammal surveyor and bio-acoustician with in excess of hours of logged survey effort at sea during 66 offshore surveys and dozens of monitoring surveys on commercial ro-ro ferries and including over hours of PAM survey experience. Conducted numerous ship-based marine mammal surveys on Irish and EU commercial and research vessels since 2001 and have led two multidisciplinary marine ecology surveys on board the Irish State Research Vessel, Celtic Explorer. Operated an ecological consultancy since 2004 and participated in the EU funded SCANS II and CODA surveys in 2005 and 2007. Following completion of a state funded three year survey contract in 2011, worked as a freelance MMO, PAM operator and Ecological Consultant. Successfully managed a government contract to conduct innovative static acoustic monitoring for beaked whales in deepwater subsea canyons off the Irish West Coast in 2011.
