Background
About David A. Menassa
I am a neuroscientist interested in the role of microglia in neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disease. I use artificial intelligence, spatial transcriptomics and computational tools to map microglia-neuronal interactions and to distinguish between the molecular signatures of related diseases. I am based at the Department of Neuropathology, University of Oxford. I also teach neuroscience to undergraduates reading biomedical science and medicine at the Queen's College, Oxford. I am affiliated with the Blomgren group (paediatric cancers) at the Karolinska Institutet's Department of Women's and Children's Health and I also collaborate closely with the Holcman group (theoretical physiology and applied mathematics) at the École Normale Supérieure in Paris. I have a broad background which includes training in biochemistry, bioenergetics, physiology and neuroimmunology.
