About David Adkins-Brown

Bringing community, information, and strategy together to make your library system the best. I am the Assistant Director of Community Libraries and Emerging Initiatives for Sno-Isle Libraries and oversee the North District. I coach and mentor managers and supervisors for positive results. I am part of a team of managers who take on high and mid-level discussion looking at anything from strategic planning and policy to hiring and position creation. I continue to be active in education by teaching LIS courses at Highline College to students seeking their school library endorsement. I am the former branch manager for the Mountain View Neighborhood Library in Anchorage, Alaska. I am known for finding ways to reduce barriers and increase access to programs and services via referrals and partnerships. I excel at bringing teams together and working with their strengths to attain project and program goals while focusing on the scope of the strategic plan of the library system as well as the department. I am the former regional representative for school librarians to the Alaska Association of School Librarians as of March. I still keep up to date on changes to school librarianship and curriculum, passing along information that helps bridge the gap between public and school libraries. I graduated of the University of Southern California Master's in Management of Library and Information Science, and have worked on federal and state library digitization projects as well as built school libraries.
