I am a clinical social worker with over 30 years of experience. In 1990, I received Bachelors degrees in Psychology and Biology from Rhode Island College. I received my Masters degree (MSW) from Simmons College Graduate School of Social Work in 1993. I am a licensed independent clinical social worker (LICSW) in the state of Massachusetts and I am a member of the Academy of certified social workers (ACSW) with NASW (National Association of Social Workers). I've worked primarily as a medical social worker in several different settings over the years. I have been a VNA (Visting Nurse Association) Social Worker since 1995 and really enjoy the work that I do to assist patients with coping and problem solving, decision making regarding health care needs, and helping them to access services and community resources to bring about positive changes in their lives.I have been a medical social worker at Baystate Home Health in the Springfield, MA area since 2007 and I love my job and the great team that I work with! I am a Certified SHINE counselor (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Everyone on Medicare) in Massachusetts, Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP), and Problem Gambling Specialist (MA PGS) with the Massachusetts Council on Compulsive Gambling.As a social worker, I believe health care is a human right; I strongly support Medicare For All; I advocate for social justice causes; and I fight against discrimination and oppression in all its many forms.Specialties: Medical Social Work, Home Care, Health Care, Geriatrics, Dementia, Advance Directives, Disability & chronic illness, HIV/AIDS, Compulsive Gambling, Community resources & services, Medicare, Medicaid, & public benefits.
