About David Allan

Graduate with 14 years’ experience in Local radio broadcasting in Ayrshire, and several years’ experience in Podcast development & production. In addition to presenting and producing radio shows, I co-hosted a synthesiser/electronic music/music tech podcast called "Synthesist", and have a considerable interest in synthesisers and electronic music. I co-produce the "Portrait & A Podcast" podcast and contribute to the "Scotland - A Scottish History Podcast" which was selected as the Times Podcast of the Week in February 2023. I graduated from UWS in July 2017 with a high 2:1 classification of BA(Hons) Broadcast Production. My time at university kindled an interest in academic study into local radio & the concepts of localness in radio, with particular focus on Scotland. Another area of interest is music on radio and in particular the exposure local, unsigned and independent bands receive on radio. In 2023 I completed an MA in Creative Media Practice (with Distinction) from UWS, which furthered my academic practice. My Masters Project,"Scenes From Strathclyde" brought together my sound recording skills with my hobby photography passion to document locations around the west of Scotland.
