About David Amaya

I have worked on evaluations of social programs for more than 12 years. I’m a strategic thinker that brings an analytical and detail-oriented approach to my work. I enjoy working in evaluation because it involves listening to community voices to explore what works and doesn’t work and what is meaningful to inform programmatic decision-making and contribute to improved well-being for children, youth, and communities. I am currently a Strategic Advisor, Enterprise Measurement and Evaluation at the Canadian Medical Association. In my role, I am responsible for the measurement strategy for strategic initiatives focused on the health of Indigenous Peoples and Net-Zero Emissions Health Systems. Previously, I have worked in multiple sectors including global health, nutrition, education, youth empowerment, child protection, and WASH. My experience includes working in Nicaragua as a Monitoring and Evaluation Program Officer for HIV and AIDS prevention programs and implementing evaluations in countries including Bolivia, El Salvador, India, Nicaragua, Sierra Leone, and Sri Lanka using both quantitative and qualitative methods. I enjoy learning from and connecting with people that work in measurement and evaluation and social innovation. I like to explore new ideas and alternative perspectives and would be happy to connect.
