About David B. Wilson

Dave is one of several lawyers that comprise the Legislative Affairs Division in the Regulatory Response Sector at OSFI, Canada's primary regulator and supervisor of federally regulated deposit-taking institutions, insurance companies, trust and loan companies, and private pension plans. Prior to joining OSFI, Dave spent several years with a highly respected civil litigation firm in Ottawa where he worked as a student during law school and then completed his articles prior to being called to the Ontario Bar in 2006. At the end of his previous career and prior to resuming his post-secondary studies in Dave was the executive chef at a French continental restaurant in Oakville, Ontario. Specialties: Legal and policy issues pertaining to the regulation and supervision of federal financial institutions in Canada, and the legislation and jurisprudence relating thereto. In particular, Dave has garnered considerable experience on a wide variety of complex legal and regulatory issues related to the banking, federal insurance, and trust and loan companies in Canada, including legislative drafting and OSFI's formal intervention powers and crisis preparedness methodologies.
