About David Beasley

I have more to offer in addition to the technological skills that I have learned since attending MSOE. Having worked at the Milwaukee Public Library for the past twelve years, I have the interpersonal skills that are needed in today’s world. In addition, teamwork with my workmates was also helpful (whether it was from our library or visitors from another branch). It was the beginning that has enabled me to acquire benefits I initially thought I could not do. First, my sister suggested that I work on campus, which was the beginning of my involvement at MSOE. In the fall of 2003, I began working for Student Support Services. In addition to proctoring tests for students and completing office work, I met several students that are in the program. I also became vice president of our National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) chapter on campus. It was beneficial to meet other minority students, as well as attending the 2004 Fall Conference in Cleveland, Ohio. I met other students from different states and went to a career fair near the hotel I stayed at. In the spring of 2005, I was suggested by a former professor and mentor to become a peer mentor. I did just that in the fall quarter of that year. It was great to meet freshmen in a group a week before school actually started, and seeing three of the five currently on campus. I became a mentor in 2006 and have a weekly lunch with the current group; this I find great to build on my social skills. Overall, as I become open and interact with others, the better I will be once I leave college and enter the business environment. The web site listed was part of a project my former boss assigned to me while working for my college's library in the summer of 2006. It lists book reviews for majors that students could submit to the library staff. This not only has helped me on a personal level, creating layouts (that can be viewed on my website below) though to create websites for organizations and companies.
