About David Blake

David is the Director at Urdang, City St George’s, University of London. He is an experienced performing artist, voice actor, award winning arts practitioner skilled in theatre, artistic direction, leadership, dance pedagogy and choreography. Demonstrated history in producing, mentoring, training, career development and dialect consulting for professional and pre-professional artists, as well as expert advice on training and curriculum development for performing arts academies and institutions. Founder of Blake Arts UK an independent dance and mentoring programme, providing high quality performing arts experiences through a comprehensive training program that deepens the understanding of process, mentorship and performance through the Blake Arts Ensemble (B.A.E). Award recepient for Best Teacher for Performing Arts as a Subject by The Black British Theatre Awards (BBTA) 2020. Movement Director on various film and commercial projects commissioned by the BBC, EE, Ernst & Young (EY) and other companies. Creative Director for Dance film project Melanin Migration Brothers in Arms (MMBIA) featured in the Miami ScreenDance Film Festival with a nomination for Best Dance on Film by the OneDance UK Awards. Strong education professional with a BA in Business Administration - Marketing from California State University (CSUSB) and MA in Arts Administration and Cultural Policy from University of London, Goldsmiths (UOLG).
