About David Boswell

I am David Boswell, a fifth-year standing undergraduate student studying at Carleton University in the Architectural Conservation and Sustainability Engineering program. This unique program enables me to apply both engineering and architectural solutions to the development of real-world projects. In taking dynamic approaches to the design and retrofit of engineering systems, I passionately hold sustainability as my guiding objective. My educational and early career experiences have provided me with excellent written, and oral communication abilities, with the confidence to put these skills to use. Also, I am completely bilingual (English and French). I am passionate about the preservation, rehabilitation, and restoration of buildings, to provide them with function and purpose in the modern world. My motivation and attraction toward the engineering industry stem from my growing technical skills in the world of materials engineering, structural analysis methods, and my ability to use and learn digital building design software. I have experience with 3D modeling software and have completed many projects in 2D digital design. I also have programming experience, applied through leading a team in coding and completing photo-editing software. Relating to materials, I have successfully completed a wide variety of research-oriented laboratories which involve the experimental and theoretical analysis of material and fluid properties, testing, mixing, production, and other data of materials (concrete mixes, wood samples, steel samples). In the past years, I have exposed myself to challenging new environments by working with a team of highly trained professionals within a private consulting engineering firm where I have gained much technical and developmental experience in the civil and structural fields. Between these roles, my objectives include: condition assessments of existing facilities, development of preliminary and detailed engineering reports, engineering drawings, cost estimates, project specifications, inspections, shop drawings, and other services.
