About David Bottomley

Experienced Police Officer who has specialised in Roads Policing and Casualty reduction work. I currently have the privilege of heading up the Motorcycle Safety team for the Metropolitan Police in London. A strong focus of our work is working on longer term problem solving approaches to reducing motorcycle casualties across London and beyond. Two notable successes have led to the creation of Couriersafe, a bespoke safety course aimed at motorcycle couriers working for the Gig Economy and the Courier Safety charter which encompasses TfL and a number of other stakeholders in that sector. My team also head the delivery of BikeSafe in the Greater London area and I've acted as a consultant/support for other organisations both nationally and internationally who wish to develop their offerings in this area. I'm always keen to see what works for other Road Safety professionals and to share ideas so please feel free to reach out via DM if that suits.
