About David Bowman

In 2021, my wife Keisha (a health coach) and I founded Lifestyle Med Revolution to help to transform health through plant-based nutrition, physical activity, spirituality, group support and more! We understand that it is difficult in the flesh to make significant lifestyle changes, and thus we invoke Biblical scriptures and principles and spiritual strength in overcoming those obstacles. My main job is as a pediatrician at Howard University. I counsel my parents early and often about training up a child’s taste buds to prefer healthier food. In the early part of my career, I used to do global and domestic pediatric HIV work. However, I essentially worked my way out of a job because children weren’t getting HIV if mothers took the HIV meds. I want to do the same for cardiologists, cancer docs and diabetes docs - put them out of business because we have prevented, treated and reversed health care problems through lifestyle changes! I’m also passionate about my position as co-chair of the HEAL Initiative (Health Equity Achieved by Lifestyle medicine) through the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, where I am on the Board of Directors. I believe that lifestyle medicine can address the physiologic effects of social determinants of health (SDOH). I advocate for programs that address SDOH to incorporate more lifestyle medicine, and for lifestyle medicine programs to focus more on health equity. I love talking to churches, community programs, medical students, health care workers and the like to inspire people to cause health breakthroughs! When we address the UNDERLYING causes of disease through lifestyle changes, dramatic health transformations occur!
