About David Brining

Writer, academic and teacher, with particular expertise in special educational needs and learning support. Foundation Chartered Manager (CMI) with L7 in Strategic Management of Organisational EDI Qualified Mental Health First Aider and Stonewall-certificated counsellor for LGBTQ+ teenagers. Current research interests in neurodiversity and LGBT history. I hold a PhD in Education, an MA in teaching English to young learners and a BA in English and American Literature and have considerable experience of teaching English in the UK and internationally. I also have wide experience of academic management, teacher training, curriculum planning and management, and research. I have written and published six novels, two stage-plays and a number of academic articles. Key skills and interests include: • Research-based product/service development, including courses and customer services; • Event planning, development and delivery, including expeditions and exhibitions; • Team-building and leadership, including training and development' • Relationship-building with stakeholder groups such as parents, students and managers; • Communication, both orally and in writing often to people with limited command of English; • Risk-taking and change management' • Inter-cultural awareness, based on living and working in different cultures.
