About David Buck

I am a mission-driven public sector leader, nonprofit executive, and advocate for equity and opportunity, with a strong focus on youth development, public safety, and justice reform. With nearly a decade of experience in municipal government and community engagement, I bring a unique blend of policy insight, on-the-ground experience, and lived expertise as a returning citizen and single father. Currently, I serve as Chair of the Public Safety Committee for the Mayor’s Commission on African American Males in Philadelphia, where I help shape policy recommendations that support the well-being and advancement of Black men and boys. I am also the Founder and Executive Director of Bridges of Opportunities, a mentoring and leadership initiative focused on supporting young people from historically underserved communities through trauma-informed care, life skills development, and civic engagement. My work is guided by a deep belief in the power of community, storytelling, and systems change. Whether advising city leaders, developing youth-centered programs, or speaking on issues of reentry, violence prevention, and mental health, I strive to build pathways that lead to healing, growth, and opportunity.
