DAVID BURKHOLDER is Associate General Counsel at Command Alkon. David's primary responsibilities are protecting the intellectual property (trademark, copyright and patent) interests of Command Alkon, as well as acting as Command Alkon's Chief Privacy Officer. In addition, David assists General Counsel Emily Branum with other legal matters as necessary. David is a Certified E-Discovery Specialist and a trained Mediator in the State of Alabama. David was formerly a Partner in the Birmingham office of Balch & Bingham LLP and a member of the firm's Litigation section. David's practice areas consisted of general litigation involving various issues such as wrongful death, personal injury, construction, mining, banking, property disputes, e-discovery (ESI), and intellectual property (mainly trademark and trade secret litigation). David was co-chair of the firm's Electronic Discovery Practice Group. Prior to attending law school, David was a police officer in Billings, Montana where he served as a hostage negotiator and field training officer. Prior to attending Auburn University for undergraduate studies, David served in the United States Army with the 3rd Ranger Battalion and United Nations Command Joint Security Force South Korea, where he was on a counter-terrorist team for the 1988 Olympics.
