About David Callen

I have over 9 years of experience in the meat processing industry. I currently work in an upper management position at a processing plant and sod farm, where I have been employed for four years. This is a diverse job; there are many roles I am expected to perform each day. This job has taught me about the importance of good communication, efficiency, and flexibility in the work place. I have been given the opportunity to develop my leadership skills as I lead sod crews of 3-5 people. My responsibilities include transporting our team, talking to and understanding the expectations of the customer, and over-seeing the successful completion of the job. Inside the meat processing plant, I work in conjunction with one co-worker filling and processing wild game orders. I am in charge of slaughtering and preparing cows for cutting and processing. My responsibilities have included training new employees. I enjoy the work I do now but also enjoy other vocations. I worked in construction for four years and have a passion for woodworking. The problem solving aspect of woodworking appeals to me. I find work with my hands very rewarding.
