About David Carroll

Dr. Carroll is a mission-driven educator and leader focused on learning, well-being, and resilience for individuals and organizations. He believes education is a critical pathway for advancing the dignity and well-being of all. He is dedicated to utilizing the best science, practice, policy, and advocacy to advance mental health clinical care. He is committed to helping those he serves reach their full potential and to building up the healthcare workforce by preparing future professionals for clinical and leadership roles. His teaching and scholarship include clinical ethics, suicide prevention, integrated team-based care, supervision, and adult development and aging. As the former Executive Director in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of Mental Health and Suicide Prevention, he established programs that provided Veterans access to a full continuum of integrated mental health care and suicide prevention services. As a leader in innovation, he advanced integrated, whole health care, led a robust adoption of telemental health services, coordinated services across VA and with community partners, improved consistency in care delivery, and spread best practices.
