Experience- Outdoor/Environmental Education, Facilitator/Recreation Leader, Mentor, Respite Worker, Director, Instructor, etc Program Instructor: Teaching 2nd- 12th grade students environmental education curriculum, leading recreational activities and evening activities, facilitating challenge course and ground initiatives as well as high rope elements, ongoing equipment checks to insure safety of staff and participants, and participating in work projects that maintain and improve the program. The weekend conference groups range from hunter safety, college groups, Girl Scouts, families, and special needs groups. Weekend duties include facilitating; interpretive hikes, rock climbing, archery, boating, arts and crafts, Hip Hop dance class, and more. Challenge Course Facilitator: Providing an exceptional residential camp experiences to kids 7-14 from low income backgrounds by facilitating: high and low challenge course activities, recreational activities and evening activities, and ongoing equipment checks to insure safety of staff and participants, Teachers Assistant for Pre School through 5th grade. Duties included: Providing a healthy, safe and stimulating environment for children of different backgrounds ages, and abilities. The staff at Arcata Children’s Center helped nurture a self esteem for the children by using open and frequent communication among the children, staff, and parents. We also strove to foster a sense of independence and community. Unit Director Duties: Researching, identifying, and securing donations and grants. Planning and facilitating appropriate indoor and outdoor educational and recreational activities to meet needs and interests of all children and establishing effective ongoing communication with staff, children, and parents. I also supervised day to day operation of staff members, created staff schedules, checked and turned in time sheet, and maintained accurate enrollment records.
