I am the business owner of Cartwright Catering Group Ltd in Christchurch, Village Manager for Charles Upham Retirement Village (a Ryman property) and an elected member and former chairman of the Fendalton Waimari Harewood Community Board. I have had several other appointments including a Trustee for the New Zealand Air Research Trust (aka ‘flying doctors’) and national committee member for Keep New Zealand Beautiful.I have developed a raft of skills and garnered many insights as the result of at least 30 years spent in management roles. Not only do I appreciate and understand the operational realities of running a busy, first class business, I also understand commercial, legal, Health and Safety and compliance requirements in today’s workplaces. I am enthusiastic and approachable, hardworking, and dedicated to achieving outstanding results and fostering an environment of continuous improvement. I have extensive experience in managing staff across many disciplines, problem solving, and proven leadership abilities grounded from my background in the Royal New Zealand Army. In addition to my business ownership, highlights of my career include leading the redevelopment of the Canterbury Club and growing membership by over 150 new members during my time as general manager, and fostering business growth and development for Lane Neave Lawyers through events, sponsorships, and collaborative opportunities. Through my professional, recreational, and community roles I have developed an extensive network of contacts throughout Canterbury and New Zealand, across many industries.I am a father of two boys, and a keen sportsman. I have travelled extensively both nationally and internationally and am an outgoing, motivated and passionate about my personal and professional development, sports, recreation, and the community.
