Double Board Certified in trial law, and also named Outstanding Defense Bar Leader in the nation by DRI, the largest association of defense and corporate counsel in the United States (2006). Recently served as President of the Texas Chapters of the American Board of Trial Advocates (TexAbota), as well as Chair-of the State Bar of Texas Board of Directors and Chair of the Board of Trustees of the State Bar of Texas Insurance Trust. Recently served as President of Austin Bar Association, National Director on the Board of DRI, Chair of the Austin Bar Foundation, and as an officer and on the board of both the Texas Chapters and Austin Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates. He also served as President of the Texas Association of Defense Counsel, and received its Founders' Award in 2009 for lifetime service to the civil justice system. Double Board Certified in both Civil Trial Law and Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization (less than one half of one percent (.05%) of all Texas lawyers are board certified in both of these areas of trial practice in Texas) Named in Best Lawyers in America, and a Texas Super Lawyer for past 15+ straight years in Texas Monthly magazine (limited to 5% of all Texas lawyers) and AV Rated (highest peer review rating) by Martindale Hubble for the past 25 years. He has also served numerous times as Course Director of the Advanced Civil Trial Law Course, the Advanced Personal Injury Law Course, and the Business Disputes Law Course, all sponsored by the State Bar of Texas. Has delivered well over 100 speeches, papers and other presentations to local, state and national bar associations, and received the 2014 Standing Ovation Award from the State Bar of Texas for outstanding service as course director and speaker in legal education.
