About David Charlton

As a Senior Ecologist at AECOM, I support a great team of scientists, drawing on my 35+ years of experience in the field. Together we provide strategic advice on environmental and ecological issues to a wide range of clients. I have a Master of Science in Rural Planning and Ecology from the University of Guelph and a LEED AP certification. I have been registered as a Professional Agrologist, and MTO RAQS recognised fisheries Specialist with electrofishing certification. A career long commitment to ongoing learning and skills development is reflected in the following training: the Ontario Wetland Evaluation System, Temperate Wetland Restoration Course, certified butternut health assessor, Ontario Ecological Land Classification, forest seed crop assessment and seed collection, use of computer simulation models in resource management, and numerous writing, communication and team management courses. My core competencies include environmental awareness, endangered species, water resource management, environmental permitting, team leadership and corporate governance. I have also developed strong skills in client relations, coaching, and communication, as evidenced by my role as a senior professional writer, communicator, and expert witness. I enjoy working with diverse teams and stakeholders, and contributing to challenging projects that make a positive difference in the world.
