About David Cheoros

David has produced or directed a series of festivals, events and seasons of programming, with a total audience of approximately 4.2 million people over the course of his career. So far, only six of them have asked for their money back. His background in cultural management immediately took him outside of his initial training in theatre, and he now has experience working in film and video, dance, music, the literary arts and in multi-disciplinary events. He has become adept at shifting from focuses as intimate as workshops for a dozen people, to a programming plan for Edmonton to host EXPO. David is also passionate about sharing best practices in the arts. He was a sessional instructor at MacEwan University's Arts & Cultural Management Program, and helped develop a curriculum that expanded the program from a one year certificate to a two-year diploma. He has received both the Excellence in Arts Management Award from the Mayor's Business and the Arts Awards and the Rozsa Foundation's Innovation in the Arts Awards. Since 2019, David has supported Edmonton's cultural community through his work with the Edmonton Arts Council. There, he has guided more than funding submissions by organizations and individual artists, and developed a series of free online workshops for professional artists, delivered during COVID.
