About David Chiasson
As an engineer, I've ventured through diverse fields, from hardware design for set-top boxes to software consulting in Silicon Valley. My quest for engineering superpowers led me to Stanford for a deeper dive into math and machine learning. I entered telecoms, where I delved into signal processing, working on cutting-edge projects like 60Ghz and wireless beamforming. I pursued a PhD at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, working on wearable tech and sensor networks. I am particularly proud of inventing a UWB localization method with unprecedented privacy and accuracy. From Jiao Tong, I led a startup which commercialized research from the university lab. We worked on real-time ML algorithms, sensor fusion over a wireless body network, and embedded Linux. Covid was a sucker punch to our revenue, but we survived against all odds. I sold the business in 2023. Since then, I founded Elomap and launched a platform for spatial website rendering.
