About David Choa

David graduated from University of Melbourne, Australia in 1996 with a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting & Finance) and a Bachelor of Laws. He started his career in legal practice in 1997 in the Litigation Department of a large Malaysian law firm, Lee Hishammuddin Allen & Gledhill (“LHAG”) during which he acted in various litigation matters including corporate, shareholder and insurance disputes. He then moved to the Corporate Department of LHAG where he advised on various transactions, including initial public offerings and rights issues, takeovers and mergers and acquisitions, joint venture and shareholder matters and debt restructuring exercises for a broad range of public listed and private companies. David then joined Mulpha in 2003 where he was initially involved in originating and structuring mergers and acquisitions, including management and leveraged buyouts of public listed and private companies and raised close to RM2 billion for clients from the debt capital markets via various structured finance Islamic Sukuk and conventional debt issuances. In 2007, David was given the added responsibility of heading the Corporate Finance, Treasury and Legal departments of Mulpha Group, overseeing all its corporate activities including onshore and offshore debt and equity fund-raising from Malaysian and international financial institutions, investments, acquisitions and divestments, and other general corporate, treasury and legal matters. He was also made an Executive Director of Leisure Farm (Mulpha's property development business in Malaysia), heading all its special projects including masterplanning, collaborations and joint ventures. In addition, David also gained 3 years of hands-on development experience when he acted as interim Head of the Project Department of Leisure Farm while the company searched for a suitable permanent head. David brings with him over 22 years of experience in corporate finance, treasury, corporate law and property development.
