About David Clarke

Running trading operations at scale — across crude, freight and maritime — means every decision carries commercial, regulatory and reputational consequence. Over 22 years at Shell, I’ve built the systems, teams and governance to make those decisions well.I’ve led end-to-end operations across some of the most complex and high-risk environments in global energy — navigating sanctions regimes, geopolitical disruption, post-deal integration and large-scale digital transformation. Most recently as VP Crude & Freight Trading Operations, I hold executive accountability for 8mb/d of crude and freight operations activity, leading 250+ professionals across Europe, North America, Asia and offshore hubs. What I’m known for: turning operational complexity into competitive advantage. Whether that’s consolidating fragmented global functions, driving millions in structural cost savings, or executing operations with zero regulatory breaches — I build organisations that are faster, leaner and more resilient.CORE LEADERSHIP CAPABILITIES- Enterprise Operations & COO-level Leadership- Global Crude, Freight & Maritime Operations- HSSE, Sanctions & Regulatory Compliance- Cost, Cash & Working Capital Opimisation- Digital & Process Transformation- Operating Model & Shared Services Design- Crisis & Incident Management
