About David Coffey

I'm a Creative Director at THINKHOUSE, the youth marketing agency, currently working with brands like Jameson (Global), Heineken, Barry's Tea, Frank and Honest, innocent, and more. I love how my skills from working in TV/radio transfer to my marketing work, particularly my scriptwriting and directing experience. I'm also a writer, director, producer and comedy performer working across TV, radio, podcasts and live theatre. ​ ​My break into comedy came when I wrote, directed, and starred in DAN & BECS an IFTA nominated comedy series for RTÉ Television, the format of which was later sold to Sony Television. I followed this up with a spin-off called SARH + STEVE. Making these shows led to writing a sitcom pilot for NBC Television and working as a script consultant for HBO and FOX. I currently write for CALLAN'S KICKS, a weekly satirical sketch show for Ireland's national radio station, and in the past, I've also written a weekly column for the national broadsheet newspaper The Irish Independent. I'm passionate about comedy, theatre, and improv. I produce an improvised comedy podcast called PHONING IT IN. I also produce and perform in live comedy improv shows, including shows at Smock Alley, Electric Picnic, Body & Soul, and Beatyard. ​My most recent comedy project was an improvised satirical cartoon for RTÉ called TALKING IT OUT (through which I got to realise my dream of voicing an animated version of myself!).
