About David Collier

I am a freelance TV producer with an extensive track record in working on high profile dramas and comedies, including international co-productions, that have won several awards at Banff and the RTS and received multiple Emmy and BAFTA nominations. I trained at the National Film and Television School. Currently, I am in final post-production on the sixth series of period drama 'Malory Towers' for King Bert in the UK and Wild Brain in Canada. Series 5 has been nominated for 6 Emmy awards (Best Family Series, Best Leading Performance, Best Supporting Performance, Camera Lighting and Technical Arts, Design and Costume). Awards to be announced in March. Previously, I worked on the hugely successful long-running children's period drama 'Hetty Feather' for CBBC, which won the Banff award for Best Children's Drama and was nominated for 5 BAFTAs across Series 2-5. The show was been picked up by Amazon and Gaumont for worldwide distribution. I produced the Sesame Street/CBeebies show,'The Furchester Hotel', the first time Sesame Workshop had worked on an international co-production. My other work includes the BAFTA-nominated CGI animation series,'Dinopaws','Get Well Soon'; three series of 'Big & Small' for Kindle Entertainment / Sixteen South / CBeebies, which won the RTS for Best Children's Show; top ten CBBC comedy 'Scoop' starring Shaun Williamson and Hacker T Dog;'ZingZillas', a technically complicated show involving actors in animatronic character skins, puppets, human musicians, a 360-degree set and a multi-camera shoot; CITV's seminal 'My Parents are Aliens', winning the RTS for Best Children's Drama; and a series with the iconic TV character 'The Basil Brush Show'. I have also worked as an exec producer for Princess Productions and worked on various projects in development. I have considerable, in-depth experience working on scripts. I script edited over fifty episodes of 'My Parents are Aliens'(two of which were nominated for BAFTAs) before moving on to produce the show, as well as overseeing the scripting on 'Scoop','ZingZillas','Basil' and 'Big & Small'. I script edited 'Best Friends', written by Jonathan Harvey, based on the book by Jacqueline Wilson, which was also nominated for a BAFTA for best script. I trained as a writer at the National Film and Television School - skills which I bring to my role as a producer.
